What Is Bioenergy?

What is actually meant when we speak of bioenergy? How is it applied? Can anyone become a bioenergy practitioner? Can it harm a person? And is bioenergy a medical treatment for illnesses, or should it be considered a complementary approach?

Concept of Bioenergy

The word “bioenergy” can appear with different meanings depending on where it is used. Different practitioners may use the same word to describe different techniques and different explanations. Therefore, it is not correct to fit bioenergy into a single mold.

There is biological energy in the human body. The functioning of cells, brain activities, muscle movement, and organs performing their duties require energy. However, the “energy” referred to in bioenergy applications is often not used solely in the sense of biological energy. Here, an energy field believed to exist within or around the body is mentioned.

According to this understanding, imbalances occurring in a person’s energy field are thought to be related to feeling different physically, emotionally, or in general. The practitioner also aims to work on this energy field according to their own technique.

Important Distinction: A person feeling more relaxed, light, or good after a session is not the same thing as how that session works being precisely and scientifically explained. Personal experience and scientific evidence are different matters.

How Is Bioenergy Applied?

Applications carried out under the name of bioenergy can vary from person to person. For this reason, it would not be correct to say "bioenergy is strictly done like this".

  • In some sessions, the person sits in a chair or lies on a massage table.

  • The practitioner may touch the person with their hands or work on specific areas without touching the person.

  • Some practitioners listen to the difficulties and problems in the person’s life before the session.

  • While some practitioners work face-to-face, others state that they perform distance energy work.

Intention is also considered an important element in bioenergy applications. In this approach, the intention with which the practitioner starts the session and the direction in which the energy is intended to work are of importance.

What Happens in a Bioenergy Session?

This is one of the most natural questions of a person who has never encountered bioenergy before: “What exactly will happen when I go into a session?”

There is no single answer to this, because the application varies according to the practitioner’s method. Generally, however, the person first speaks with the practitioner and explains the issues troubling them. Afterwards, the practitioner makes an evaluation according to their own method and conducts the work.

During this time, the person may experience certain sensations. Warmth, coldness, heaviness, lightness, relaxation, sleepiness, or different emotions may be felt. It is also possible to feel nothing at all. One person feeling a lot in a session while another person experiences no distinct sensation does not mean the work is good or bad.

What Is the Purpose of Bioenergy?

The expectations of people who consult bioenergy are not the same. Some want to get away from the stress of daily life, some want to receive a different support due to the constant fatigue or restlessness they feel, and some want to take a bioenergy session because they wish to get rid of a problem, discomfort, or illness they have been unable to solve for a long time.

1. Can Anyone Become a Bioenergy Specialist?

A person learning a technique is one matter; being able to do this work safely and responsibly is another matter.

Theoretically, anyone who wishes can attend various courses, learn different techniques, and define themselves as a bioenergy practitioner. However, receiving a few days or a few weeks of training does not mean that a person is automatically sufficient in matters of the human body, communication, ethical rules, and health.

For me, an important quality of a practitioner is knowing not only “what they can do,” but also “where they need to stop”. When a person has a serious health issue, the practitioner must not ignore it, should refer them to a doctor or other health professionals when necessary, and must clearly explain the boundaries of their own work.

What Should Be Looked for in a Bioenergy Practitioner?

  • They should know the boundaries of their work and explain them clearly to the person.

  • They should be honest about their educational background and experience.

  • They should not try to bind the person to themselves by instilling fear.

  • They should not prevent medical evaluation from being obtained when necessary.

2. Can Bioenergy Cause Harm?

In this question, the word “harm” should not be thought of only as physical harm. Even if an application does not involve a powerful physical intervention in the body, it can still harm a person in other ways due to a wrong approach.

  • Creating fear: Using statements such as “there is very heavy energy on you” or “if this is not cleansed, you will get worse” continuously to a person can create fear in them. A person who is fearful may experience other troubles and become dependent on the practitioner.

  • Creating financial and emotional dependency: Expressions such as “Only I can solve this,” “You must come every week,” or “If you leave me, the problem starts again” can wear a person down financially and emotionally. While helping a person, a practitioner should also preserve that person’s control over their own life.

  • Working with wrong intention: In bioenergy applications, intention can occupy an important place in the practitioner’s understanding of work. Work conducted with a wrong intention can yield harm instead of benefit. For this reason, using the words “good intention” alone is not sufficient. For example, some practitioners express their intention as “for the highest good of the whole.” While this intention brings benefit to the person receiving the session, it causes harm to people who have an etheric bond with them (mother, father, spouse, child).

  • Delaying medical help: One of the most serious risks is a person trying to solve a real health problem solely with energy work. Especially in serious, new-onset, or rapidly worsening symptoms, medical evaluation should not be delayed.

Does Bioenergy Treat an Illness?

The word “treatment” carries a very strong meaning in the health field. Saying that an application treats a specific illness requires sufficient evidence to back it up.

Personal experiences, observations of practitioners, and various studies regarding bioenergy may exist. However, the existence of these does not mean that bioenergy treats all illnesses.

That is why the words used in communication regarding bioenergy are important. “Supporting relaxation” and “curing an illness” are not the same claim.

3. Is Bioenergy an Alternative or a Complementary Method?

The answer to this question depends on how bioenergy is used:

  • Complementary use: If a person continues the medical treatment recommended by their doctor without interruption while also benefiting from bioenergy to relax or receive different support, bioenergy can be considered a complementary use here.

  • Alternative use: Conversely, if a person completely abandons the treatment recommended by the doctor and turns solely to bioenergy, bioenergy is placed in lieu of the medical approach here. This signifies alternative use.

In my approach, it is important for the person to receive the necessary medical evaluation regarding their health.

What Does the Word “Healing” Mean?

The word “healing” (şifa) is not used in daily life solely in the sense of medically eliminating an illness. People sometimes use the word “healing” for relaxation, inner peace, spiritual support, or feeling better.

For this reason, the sense in which a practitioner uses the word “healing” must be clear. There is a very large difference between “supporting relaxation” and a medical claim such as “curing cancer”.

4. Does Ekrem Deniz Practice Bioenergy?

No. The healing method I apply is unique to me. It is not bioenergy.

I particularly want to state this distinction clearly. Because I do not want a person reading this article to automatically assume that the work I do is the same method after seeing different bioenergy applications on the internet.

Anyone wishing to understand my way of working should examine how I work separately, rather than seeking the answer to the question “How is bioenergy done?” I do not find it right to present the work I do under the name of another method.

During the session, I listen to the problems explained by the person, make an evaluation in line with my own method, and conduct the session accordingly. Open communication is important to me.

From my perspective, trust is not formed merely by a person hearing good things. Trust is also formed by being able to say when necessary, “I cannot do this,” “this subject is outside my field of work,” or “a medical evaluation is required here.”
