BeFaster Lite is light version of BeFaster. It only offers fixed settings, you cannot customize settings. BeFaster Lite is not designed for advanced users while BeFaster have Advanced Users tab to optimize settings manually and customize settings easily. BeFaster Lite does not have Records function while BeFaster does.  BeFaster Lite is smaller and registration is cheaper because it does not have Records Function and Advanced Users tab. It does only have Standard Users tab of BeFaster.

With a short answer: No.

BeFaster Lite is an award-winning software. So there're too many requests to be a sponsor. In spite of that, BeFaster Lite does not include any advertisement (e.g.: Radiate) or performance measurement (e.g.: WebHancer) software.

Let me tell you how you can run BeFaster step by step:
1-download BeFaster Lite setup file, the default filename is bflite.exe
2-download VB6 Runtime files from http://www.ekremdeniz.com/help100.html
3-install VB6 Runtime files, it is a free package from Microsoft. Some programs need that package.
4-Run setup file to install BeFaster Lite.

BeFaster Lite optimizes your registry and other initialization files to speed up your connection. But Netsonic uses cache method to speed up your connection. We don't recommend Netsonic or any other program. This answer is here because of incoming questions.

If you are connecting to the internet by using LAN instead of PPPoE, please choose the first optimization method instead of "...running PPPoE."

If you are using PPPoE, please be sure that you have selected the correct MTU value : regular or irregular, some service providers uses irregular one.

Lastly, sometimes some connections work with DSL, Cable option (first option) although it is PPPoE but this does not appear frequently.

Q6: I'm using Wireless CDMA modem with speed 115.2 Kbps, I wonder how to use this modem ?

The important point is the speed of your connection, not the name of your connection. Therefore you must use "Lan, Cable, xDSL, ISDN, T1 or faster" option.

But please try "normal speed" under this option first. Normal speed option reduces amount of information that system can receive. Later you can try Maximum speed option. Choose the best one for your connection.

"Dial-up Modem , Fast" option is designed for fast connections. If you have nice clear phone lines and/or a fast 56k/64k modem, this option is recommended. "Dial-up Modem , Slow" option is designed for slow connections. If you use 33k modem, this option is recommended. "Dial-up Modem , Normal" option is designed for normal connections. If your modem or lines are not good, this option is recommended. In spite of this, we recommend you to try each of them; select the fastest one for you.

Fixed settings are generated for common. Maybe you can try "Lan, Cable Modem, xDSL, ISDN, T1 or faster" option because sometimes this option gives better results for DirecPc connections.

Connection speed depends on : Internet service provider (ISP), phone line, modem type (quality), optimization and secondly depends on OS, browser... BeFaster Lite changes only the optimization. If your ISP is not good, BeFaster Lite can't solve this problem. If your line is not clear, BeFaster Lite can't make your line productive.
BeFaster Lite optimizes your connection by changing some initialization files and windows settings. It can't change your internet service provider, e.g. :-(

You can choose the best one depending on your connection speed instead of connection type. If your connection speed is 56k or 64k, you can use "Dial Up Modem/Fast" fixed option. If your connection speed is 128k or higher and you can use "Lan, Cable,..." fixed option. If your connection is not fast as 56k dial-up modem,  you can use "Dial-up Modem/Normal" fixed option.

Of course, you can use BeFaster Lite whatever your connection is. Optimize your host connection with the best fixed setting. Optimize your client computers with "Lan,..." fixed setting. But be sure that all client computers have the same MTU value of the host computer. Try BeFaster instead of BeFaster Lite to optimize settings manually.

BeFaster Lite has an ability to optimize some settings without restarting windows. While you click Optimize Settings button, press "shift" key on your keyboard, too. This will restart windows fast. You can also run BeFaster with "/Fast" parameter to optimize settings fast.

But this optimization will not optimize all settings, only some settings. So it is not default optimization method and It is hidden.

You need to install BeFaster Lite on all computer in your network to have the best connection at all. The most important one is to install BeFaster Lite on your main (host) computer. If you install BeFaster Lite on host computer and if you don't install BeFaster Lite on your clients, your client-to-host connection will be un-optimized, but your main computer's connection will be optimized. If you want to optimize your host (server) computer, please select the connection type of your computer. If you want to optimize your client computers, please use "Lan,..." option for optimization. Try BeFaster to optimize settings manually instead of BeFaster Lite.

That seen number (44.5) depends on your modem and phone line and internet service provider. BeFaster Lite can't change these factors. Some programs can change it to 110k or 105k e.g. but they only change the number, not speed. Because 56k Modems can't connect at higher then 57.6Kbps theoretically. The maximum number (you can see there) can be 57.6 .If you want to see the highest number (57.6k) there (in system-tray, connected icon) ; you need to have a better modem, better digital phone lines and better internet service provider (isp). 56K Modems may reach 105kbps speed, if it is downloading a text file from internet. Because 56k modems have a compression feature to download data fast by compressing it. Other times, you may not reach more then (57600/8000=) 7.2kb/s, while downloading a normal file. But you may download a text file with a speed of 9kb/s or 10kb/s or maybe a little more. Because text files can be downloaded fast because of the compression.

If you run BeFaster Lite once correctly, you don't need to run anymore. If you want to use BeFaster's other functions (ping now or super-ping tool) you need to run BeFaster Lite before connecting to internet.
After you run it correctly; if you uninstall it, optimization will be uninstalled, too. But If you're a registered user and if you uninstall it, optimization will NOT be uninstalled. This is a restriction of shareware version.

When you install BeFaster, setup asks you to select a language. The selected language will be default program language. But you can change this language later by clicking F8 Key when program main window is active. After you click F8 Key, you will see the list of language files. Select your language and click OK button to change interface language. You can use Help menu instead of F8 Key.

Click Optimize Settings button after you select your connection type. Then program will prompt you to restart. After you restart, you will have a faster connection. If you selected the true connection type, you don't need to start optimization again.
BeFaster Lite can stay in tray icon if you want to use ping-tool that this tool can prevent connection drops, and awake suspended modem. BeFaster icon can appear in system tray if you set it by using preferences. You can reach preferences by using Program menu.

This problem is seen on some systems. Solution is simple. There's a file included with program : enable.reg . It is in your installed program directory (e.g.: C:\Program Files\BeFaster Lite\enable.reg ) Run this file by double-clicking on it ; it will ask you a question. Answer this question positively "yes" . This operation will fix the problem.

Although we have worked hard to make sure that BeFaster Lite is compatible as possible, sometimes problems can occur. We recommend you to check your network settings. Because mostly that problem occurs when the network properties are not configured successfully.

You may remove your network components and then add again to correct that problem if you are using Windows 95/98/Me. If you are using NT based operating system (e.g. Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003), you must set up your network connection again.

Secondly, sometimes the reason of this problem is a bad installation of Internet Explorer. Yes, according to our tests; if there is a problem in the installation of IE, you have this connection problem. The solution is easy, just re-installing Internet Explorer. After you re-install Internet Explorer, you will see that there is no connection problem after BeFaster.

Lastly, we recommend you to use Safe Mode of BeFaster Lite. BeFaster Lite has 2 optimization mode: safe mode and normal mode. Normal mode is default mode of BeFaster Lite. You can activate safe mode by using Program menu. This will exclude some settings from optimization. Click here to read about safe mode.

Please run BeFaster Lite with /register command line argument. For example; go to installed BeFaster directory. Open dos prompt there. Type bflite /register to start BeFaster. Click TRY button and use Program menu and Register.. menu item. Type your username and the key. You will see another window opened that is asking a question about windows registry. Click the positive answer ("yes") and read the following messages. You will be a registered user finally.

1. Unregistered users will see splash (nag) screen and wait a few seconds. Registered users will not see that splash and they will not wait, just start.
2. Unregistered users can use the program for 15 days to evaluate. A user who likes and purchases BeFaster Lite, will be a registered user. Registered users can use the program with no limit.
3. Unregistered users cannot change some options in preferences. Registered users can change all options:
   -Disable/Enable Ping-Now sound
   -Add/Remove BeFaster Lite shortcut to folders context menu for fast access.
   -Ping Now can monitor clipboard. Therefore if you copy an URL and click Ping Now, it will use the copied URL in clipboard to ping specially.
   -Change ping address or ability to ping last typed URL in Internet Explorer.
4. If an Unregistered user uninstalls BeFaster Lite, all optimization will be uninstalled, too. But registered users can uninstall BeFaster Lite after optimization, this will not change optimization.

Q24: I can't register BeFaster Lite although i have tried registration servers. It gives an error about my connection or registration servers. What is the problem ?

First of all, please be sure that you have disabled your firewall or just set your firewall to accept incoming and outgoing connections for BeFaster Lite. BeFaster uses http port 80 and IE based online registration method. Therefore you must have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher installed. If you don't want to have Internet Explorer 4.0+ installed, please click here to contact us. Then we will help you to be a registered user by another way.

Run setup program of new version of BeFaster Lite. It will install new version and update old version. BeFaster Lite has LiveUpdate function, you can use it to have the last version of BeFaster Lite easily.

Some people sent us comments about this. They want us to add a tool that makes connection alive. So we added this smart tool. It makes you connected and prevents connection drops by pinging in determined time intervals. It does not use Windows default ping technique.

Ping Now function is a different property of BeFaster Lite. Ping Now function awakes suspended modems when you want. Both of these tools uses IE (internet explorer) based system. If you don't have IE 4.0 or higher, both of them will not work.

Of course, yes. But if you're an unregistered user and if you uninstall the program, you will uninstall the optimization. It means if you uninstall after you use, your settings will return to windows default settings and so you won't Be Faster. (If you're a registered user, there's no problem to uninstall) This is a restriction of shareware version.

BeFaster Lite supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista but BeFaster Lite does not support BeOS, Macintosh, Linux, OS/2 or Windows 3.x.
