Topic : Is BeFaster adware or shareware ?

  • "Adware" is used for advertising supported software and Adware is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running.

According to this description, BeFaster is not adware. Because you only see advertisement at splash screen and splash screen is only seen by unregistered users. And all advertisement in the program are included in BeFaster's setup. So it does not connect to any third party web sites and it does not use any bandwidth.

  • Most of the people thinks that all adware products are spyware. This is not true for all but but the majority are spyware. Some of Adware have been criticized for occasionally including code that tracks a user's personal information and passes it on to third parties, without the user's authorization or knowledge. This kind of adware is spyware.

According to this description, BeFaster is not spyware. Because it does not include any code or it does not include any console (3rd party software for advertisement). Because BeFaster has offline advertisement system. It does not use any bandwidth because of this.

  • The justification for adware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user.

According to this idea, BeFaster is not adware. Because advertisement does not help to recover programming development cost. BeFaster is already a popular program and it is purchased by over 64 countries. It is completely shareware.

  • BeFaster is bundled with third party software. But you have an ability not to install them. These third party applications are added to help people : navigate easily and block popups. Anyway, setup asks you if you want to install or not to install at the beginning. You may check NavExcel's website or help file or online help for more information.

As a result; BeFaster and BeFaster Lite is shareware. It is not spyware because BeFaster does not transmit information back to a third party. It is not adware.
